Thank you all for your encouraging comments on my first made-for-me dress, now I feel bad for my husband, he sort of got ‘blasted’ by some of you because of the comments he made on the dress. :)
So I present to you my second made-for-me, a shirt dress. I love shirt dresses, the ones at the mall are very pretty but usually I couldn’t find them in the length that enables me to hide my stubby knees and calves; now that I made my own, I could hem it to my desired length.
I piped the collars and sleeves. Those pastel pink buttons are rather sweet.
Ok, that chunky watch totally doesn’t belong in the pictures!
I had this green neon belt like forever and I never used it as I thought it was hideous but now it serves a purpose. :)
| Fabric | : | 2.5 yards Takahiro Japanese Cotton from Malaysian local fabric chain Kamdar: RM3.40 per yard (on 50% off sale, yay!); Total Cost: RM8.50/USD2.80 |
| Pattern | : | Vogue V8352, gifted by the talented Alviana of ‘Sewn by Alviana’. Check out her pretty shirtdress version here! She has cut out the pattern which happens to be my size too, so she saved me some time (cutting and tracing pattern is my least favourite as I can’t wait to sew!) You can read my review and other’s review of the pattern here at patternreview.com |
Time to complete: Spent average 2 hours each over 4 workdays after 9pm (after Little Terror has gone to sleep)
First worn: On my car porch to model for all of you, 14 Aug 2011
Wear again?: Yes! Oh I do love this one! I think has a bit of vintage twist to it too due to the floral fabric. The dropped waist with the ruffled skirt makes the design quite feminine. Even the husband said 'This is nice, better than the last one’. Guess he’s not that generous in his compliments hey.
You must wear this out of your garage :D
ReplyDeleteMy husband is also a little bit saucy when I ask him a comment or two for my sewing project. Just ignore him LOL
